Settings reference
Settings holds everything you configure once rather than every flight. This page walks the tabs in the order they appear in the app, so you can find a setting by where it lives. The topic pages linked from each block go deeper.
X-Plane
- Installations: every X-Plane install X-Dispatch found, with its version and whether it is a Steam install. Add one, give it a name, switch, or remove it. Switching reloads all data.
- Close after launch: quit X-Dispatch when X-Plane starts.
- Launch arguments: extra command-line flags passed to X-Plane on every cold start. Browse args lists every known X-Plane flag with a search box. Flags passed on the X-Dispatch command line with --xp-arg show here as session arguments.
Appearance
- Language of the interface and the map names. Ten languages.
- Font size (small, medium, large) and Interface zoom from 70 to 130 percent. The zoom keys change the same setting.
- Your aircraft symbol: size, colour and the altitude shadow, with a preview on the dark, satellite and light maps.
- Desktop window: keep running when the window is closed (the app stays in the Dock), get attention in the background (bounce the Dock or flash the taskbar when X-Plane connects, a plan loads or an update is ready), and recent airports in the Dock menu or taskbar jump list.
Flight Strip
Lock in place, keep above X-Plane, open when X-Plane connects, size on the map, window opacity, and the readouts in your order with COM1 and QNH as extras. See Flight Strip.
Units
Distance, altitude, speed, vertical speed, weight, coordinate format, and magnetic, true or both for courses, each with a live example. See Units and courses on the Map page.
Graphics
Map style and custom style URLs, map labels for image basemaps, 3D terrain and shading, sky and night (sun-lit sky, city lights, follow X-Plane time), and airport effects: approach light animation, ground weather, airfield lights on auto, on or off. See Basemaps and terrain on the Map page.
Flights
Record flights, flight trail, show landing report, zoom to touchdown, landing notification, and the flights folder. See Flight tracking.
Airports
Open home airport on startup, and the favorites list with the home airport first. See Favorites on the Airports page.
SimBrief
Your SimBrief username or Pilot ID with a Test button, and the FMS export targets for Send to FMS. See SimBrief.
Companion Apps
Programs to launch before X-Plane, each with its executable, arguments, working directory, delay and auto-launch switch. See Companion apps.
Tablet access
Allow tablet access, the port, the QR code and link to pair a device, reset pairing, and the connected devices. See Tablet access.
X-Plane Logs
X-Plane's Log.txt from the last session, parsed into entries with errors and warnings flagged, a filter and a search box, and Open Log.txt for the raw file. Useful when a plugin or scenery misbehaves. See Troubleshooting.
Support
Report a Problem sends a message, with an optional email for follow-up, together with the app state and recent actions. A Discord link. And the switch for anonymous usage data: which features are used, app version and OS, nothing you type and no file paths. It is off until you turn it on.
About
Updates: the version, the update status (checking, downloading, ready, failed) with Check for updates, and the Beta updates switch. Data & Settings opens the data folder and the log file. Privacy has the crash reports switch. Third-party licenses lists the software X-Dispatch is built with, searchable. Ctrl+Shift+D (Cmd+Shift+D) toggles the developer debug overlay.
