Add-ons
The add-on manager lists everything installed in your X-Plane folder and installs new add-ons from archives. It knows where each kind belongs, so a dropped scenery pack ends up in Custom Scenery and a livery in the right aircraft folder. Three tabs: Scenery, Add-ons, Installer.
What is installed
WhereAdd-ons button in the toolbar, then the Add-ons tab.
- Aircraft and Plugins, with a count of how many are on, off, and have an update. Search by name or folder path.
- Each aircraft card shows its version when the add-on ships one (including per-model files such as version-777.txt), its liveries, and a View liveries button that opens them in their own dialog.
- Plugins with a Scripts folder, such as FlyWithLua, get a Manage Lua scripts button for the scripts inside.
- Windows .lnk shortcuts, symlinks and junctions are followed during scans, so add-ons on another drive show up.
- Open X-Plane Folder and Rescan files sit in the header.
Install from an archive
WhereInstaller tab, or drop a file anywhere on the add-on manager.
- 01
Drag a .zip, .7z or .rar onto the manager, or click the drop zone to browse.
- 02
X-Dispatch looks inside, works out whether it is an aircraft, scenery, a scenery library, a plugin, a livery or a Lua script, and shows what it found.
- 03
Press Install. Progress shows in the manager and on the Windows taskbar icon.
- 04
For scenery, start X-Plane once afterwards so it adds the pack to scenery_packs.ini. X-Dispatch only changes that file when you ask it to from the Scenery tab.
- If a drop cannot be installed the manager says why: a folder (zip it first), a file that is not .zip, .7z or .rar, an archive with no add-on inside (often an installer or another archive; extract it and drop the add-on itself), or several files at once (only the first is installed, drop the others one at a time).
- xdispatch://addon/install?url=https://... links install straight from a download link, after you confirm.
Scenery priority
WhereScenery tab.
Packs are grouped the way X-Plane loads them, top overriding bottom: System Libraries, Custom Airports, Default Airports, Scenery Libraries, Overlays, Airport Mesh, Terrain Mesh, Other, and Unrecognized for anything the manager could not classify.
- 01
Drag a pack to a new position inside its group. Safe mode keeps drags within the same group, which is what you want almost always.
- 02
Switch on Move across tiers to drag a pack into another group, for example a library the manager put in the wrong place. Auto-Sort puts every pack in its standard group.
- 03
The header shows Unsaved until you press Save, which writes scenery_packs.ini. Discard throws the pending order away.
- Every save makes a backup of scenery_packs.ini. Backups lists them with a Restore button, so a bad order is one click away from undone.
- The enable switch on a pack turns it off in scenery_packs.ini without deleting anything.
- Close X-Plane before saving. It reads scenery_packs.ini at startup and locks files while it runs.
Updates, locks and delete
WhereButtons on each entry; right-click an entry for the same menu.
- Check Updates asks each aircraft and plugin that ships an update URL in its config for its latest version, and marks the ones with something newer, with the version jump on the badge. Add-ons without an update URL are skipped.
- Lock an aircraft or plugin to prevent changes, so a drop or a rescan cannot touch it. Unlock to edit again.
- Open folder shows the add-on in Finder or Explorer.
- Delete removes the aircraft, plugin, scenery pack, livery or script from disk after a confirmation. There is no undo. Delete from the add-on manager rather than by hand so the cache stays in step.
File access
If X-Dispatch cannot change an add-on folder, close X-Plane (it locks files while running) and check that the operating system lets X-Dispatch write to the X-Plane folder, then try again. See Troubleshooting.
